Two Cincinnati-area companies, RecruitMilitary and AdvancePierre Foods, will work together to boost the employment of military veterans in the Cincinnati tri-state region. RecruitMilitary will produce a Veteran Opportunity Expo, a hiring event for veterans and other men and women with military backgrounds, at Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals, on Thursday, October 3, 2013. AdvancePierre will sponsor the Expo and will conduct job interviews on-site.
The two companies have already achieved great success working together. During the summer, RecruitMilitary helped AdvancePierre hire a number of veterans for their operations in Enid, Oklahoma.
Laura Shorter, human resources director at AdvancePierre, said that the company seeks out veterans for employment because “we are an American company, and hiring veterans is the right thing to do.” She also believes that veterans thrive in a manufacturing environment. “Veterans have very transferrable skill sets and are able to manage many tasks at the same time,” she said. “They know how to react faster and come up with solutions. They are proactive and not channeled into one way of thinking.”
The October 3 Expo will run from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. RecruitMilitary is inviting veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses, and other members of military families. Attendance is free for job seekers, and a preregistration form is online athttps://events.recruitmilitary.com/events/cincinnati-vete.... Preregistration is not required, however. RecruitMilitary has already held 14 events in Cincinnati, drawing 4,908 job seekers and 607 exhibitors.
